Alongside her professional practice, she has taught audio description in schools and adult education programmes. She now leads an international multilingual company dedicated to maintaining high standards in accessibility, artistic quality, and audience experience.

ÁGNES MARGIT PETHES AT THE HEART OF THE EXPERIENCE

                                                                                            At the centre of this project is Ágnes Margit Pethes, whose work over the past decade has been dedicated to transforming visual information into words, with a particular focus on art.

As an interpreter translates one language into another, Ágnes translates the visual world into language. Through carefully chosen detail, metaphor, and sensory cues, she creates access to artworks that are primarily experienced through sight... opening them to blind and visually impaired audiences while offering new perspectives to everyone.

She does not analyse the artwork or impose meaning. Instead, she provides the visual elements that allow each person to form their own relationship with the piece through knowledge, curiosity, imagination, emotion, and even their mood in that very moment.

Her philosophy remains clear: “I am the eyes, not the brain.”

For Ágnes, the purpose of audio description is simple: to provide equal access to what is visual, while preserving the freedom of personal interpretation.

Trained at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, Hungary, she has worked extensively across live theatre, cinema, and television, describing approximately 40 stage productions, 60 films, and 15 television series.
